3. By making a gift of
securities
You may claim the market value of the stock as a tax deduction, which is usually more than the actual amount paid for the shares.
Avoid capital gains, state and local taxes on the profit from the sale of the securities.
It's easy to donate securities to United Way. Simply contact your broker and request a transfer of securities to the United Way account.

Securities

Do you own assets that have substantially increased in value over the
years? Donated assets such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds or real estate
may provide you with an income tax deduction based on the fair market
value of the gift and eliminate all capital gains taxes.
4.
Bequest

Leave a lasting legacy - Remember United Way in your will or estate plan.
A bequest to United Way is as simple as an amendment (codicil) to your
will stating, "I give the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate
(or a dollar amount) to United Way of Southeast Mississippi, a non-
profit human service organization." Bequests may provide you with
valuable estate tax savings.
5. Life Insurance

Give a life insurance policy to United Way, if it is no longer
needed for your family's protection or purchase a new life insurance
policy, naming United Way of Southeast Mississippi as the
beneficiary.

Donate from your IRA
The Pension Protection Act allows Traditional and Roth IRA owners who
have attained the age of 70 1/2 the ability to make charitable
contributions of up to $100,000 per year directly from their IRA's to an
eligible charitable organization without incurring any adverse federal
income tax consequences. The ability to make direct donations is
available for only two years - 2006 and 2007 - unless subsequently
